Fizzl and Coinbase for agents
Checked 23 October 2026, from Coinbase's own documentation (sources below). Coinbase's products change; their docs have the latest.
On 22 October Coinbase launched a page inviting people to connect ChatGPT, Grok, Claude and other agents to their Coinbase account. Good news for agent payments. Coinbase has two agent products, and the Fizzl Agent Wallet does part of the same job in a different way. Here is how they differ.
Side by side
| Fizzl Agent Wallet | Coinbase for Agents (Coinbase MCP) | Coinbase Wallet MCP | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What your agent gets | Its own wallet, to pay for APIs and send USDC | Access to your Coinbase account: trade crypto, stocks and futures, and pay for APIs | Access to your Coinbase Wallet: send, swap, sign, pay for APIs |
| Who holds the money | You: the agent's key stays on your computer; Fizzl never holds keys or funds | Coinbase (your account, a portfolio you pick) | You (self-custody in Coinbase Wallet) |
| Pays an API on its own | Yes, within the limits you set | Up to 5 USDC per payment | No: every payment waits for your approval |
| Above your limit | Asks you on your phone (Telegram or the app); no answer, no payment | Payments above 5 USDC aren't possible | Every payment needs your OK |
| Daily budget | Yes, per day and per payment | No: the per-request limit "does not set a session or daily budget" | A spending cap you set (the docs don't say per day) |
| Which APIs | Any x402 or MPP API; searches the whole x402 catalog, with x402 Doctor's payout record per seller | Coinbase's curated catalog | Any x402 API on Base; searches the CDP Bazaar |
| Networks for API payments | Base (or Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon), Solana, Algorand, the XRP Ledger (RLUSD), and Tempo (MPP) | USDC on Base | Base |
| Checked before paying | Every signature, by presign-guard: drainers, scams, sanctioned addresses | Not documented | Not documented |
| Checked after paying | The answer, for hidden instructions aimed at your agent; a receipt per purchase | Coinbase: "a successful authorization does not guarantee that the provider returned usable data" | Not documented |
| Trading | No | Yes: crypto, stocks and futures, where your account allows it | Token swaps |
| Where it works | Anywhere; no exchange account needed | Not everywhere: on 23 October, x402 payments from a Dutch Coinbase account were refused ("not available in your country yet"), catalog search included | Not stated |
| Agents | Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and any MCP client | ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity, Claude, Claude Code and others | Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others |
| Price | Free for one agent; Pro $5 a month for unlimited agents | Free to connect; Coinbase's trading fees apply | Free to connect |
Which one fits
Coinbase for Agents, when your agent should trade on your Coinbase account, and Coinbase offers it in your country.
Coinbase Wallet MCP, when you want to approve every single payment yourself, on Base.
Fizzl Agent Wallet, when your agent should pay for APIs on its own, within a daily budget, with a check before every signature, on more than one network, wherever you live.
They also work together: Coinbase for trading, the Fizzl Agent Wallet for paying APIs.
